Gravity

Kia ora bloggers and viewers

Today in class we had to  write a explanation about gravity and how does gravity work. We first watched 2 videos about gravity and some facts about is. Next we had to write it in our Chromebooks.

My highlight for this activity was watching the videos because I got to learn some new things.

The challenging part for this activity was writing what we know about gravity and using our own words without searching.

What do you know about gravity?

Have a nice day and here is my explanation about gravity. Bye!!!

Gravity

What is gravity?

Have you ever thought of what gravity is? Today I will explain. Gravity is something that when we throw an object in the air, floor or right and left it will always come back to the ground because of the power and attraction it brings to the ground on earth and won’t float.

Who discovered gravity?

You have maybe been thinking of who discovered gravity? I will tell you. The person who invented the word gravity is Isaac Newton.  I will tell you the way he found the word. One day he was sitting under  an  apple tree and was about to sleep but an apple fell on his head and then he started to think of why it fell on the ground and why it didn’t float in the air.  Then Issac researched gravity and found that no matter which direction you throw an object it will always come on the ground.

What does gravity do for us?

Gravity keeps everything in place but if we don’t have gravity every object and humans will float around in space and  we can’t survive without gravity. Gravity is the reason we can walk on the ground but if we don’t have gravity we wouldn’t be able to walk. We would be floating like birds and everything would be floating in space forever. For example, on the moon we can’t walk because there is no gravity in space and planets but there is one planet that does have gravity but humans can’t live there or survive. That planet’s name is Mars but is Mars temperature about -140% so cold? How did we discover there is gravity on Mars? Scientists  discovered that there is bacteria  on Mars and only if there is life on that planet is there bacteria.

Conclusion

I learnt that we can’t survive without gravity because every thing will float like water and food and all the stuff we need to survive.  I also learnt that there is life in mars. I really liked this learning because it told me lots of stuff.

My highlight for this activity was making the slides look amazing by adding pictures  colours and lots of creative stuff.

The challenging part for this activity was  finding the answer because there were so many words that I couldn’t really find some  of the answers but at last after looking very very carefully I found the answer.

Writing a emoji holiday recount

Kia ora lovely bloggers and veiwers

We are back to school after the holiday and today we had to write a recount but not any normal recount a emoji recount. We first had to make a google slide and give it a title  and then make  a brainstorm of 4 or more things we did in the holiday. After that we had to write it in a slide but then add a emoji of how  we felt doing that activity.

Kia ora bloggers and veiwers

Today we had to write a recount letter about  the orchestra trip we went yesterday. We didn’t have to actually give it someone but if we want we can. I wrote it to  my sister but I am not going to give it to her. We first brainstormed as class about what we did and some of the instruments name.

My highlight for this activity was adding paragraphs to my letter because it make s it look neater  and more writing.

The hard part was remembering each activity or song we listened to and remembering the instruments names.

have you everwritin a recount letter to someone about your day?

Have a nice day and here is  my writing and few photos.

  Wednesday 10th April 2024

Dear Sister

I am writing this letter to tell you about the amazing trip we went yesterday to the Manukau Symphony Orchestra at Due Drop Event center, but year 1 and 2 had to miss out and only years 3 to 6 came on the trip.

We had to board the bus at 11:30am  and would board back to school at 2:00. We weren’t going to bring our bags so we had to eat lunch at morning tea time so we wouldn’t get hungry and starve.  When the bell rang for the end of morning tea  we got on the bus and the ride was about 15 -20 minutes.

We finally reached the Due Drop Event centre but when we  got off the bus there were other schools that came before us and were leaving  but then other schools came but not all of them were primary. There were 1 or 2 college people or intermediate students. We had to wait for the performers to get ready and do some tries so meanwhile the people that had to go to the bathroom went and the others just sat and talked among themselves.

Finally we got to go inside and take a seat  but there were a lot of people so it took some time for the other classes to get seated, but we did wait and when I got my seat I got the middle one and that was the best place so I was so happy. All the performers were not there yet but some of them that were on stage checked if the instruments were working properly.

When all the performers were there I was so excited  and was ready to listen but everybody was talking. Then the MC came on stage and said a Pepeha and then he explained what is going to happen and introduced the conductor and the leader of each instrument.

Then the conductor signed to start and then the performers played music to start with. I loved the violins because the music of the violin was really calm and beautiful. After the first song they played another one and it was also lovely.

The Mc came onto stage and introduced Suzy Cato who was the storyteller and she used to have her own show. There were 3 stories and she read the first one which was down in the forest and when she read each word the performers played a note and the story sounded more interesting with the music.

After  The story the conductor introduced the harp and cello player and they played the “ Swan in the lake”. The harp was the lake and the cello was the swan. That was my favourite one because it was so calming and it made me imagine  the beautiful picture.

Next there was another story which was “The Stolen Stars of Matariki”. I read that book and then in the morning at breakfast time my teacher played a video of that story with the orchestra to show how it might be.

Next was another song which was really nice and after was another story which was “ The Emperor and the nightingale” which was really interesting to me and was my second favorite piece of performance.

After the last story The conductor gave us a surprise because then a star wars song was played and there was a disco ball with hundreds and thousands of lights. After the song Suzy was singing goodbye and the college students performed kapa haka to say thank you  and after that the MC, Conductor and Suzy took a photo. Then we boarded the buses and went back to school.

My highlight for this activity was was tracing the writing with a pen because it looked colourful.

The challenging part  for this activity was writing in little parts in my shape because  my writing was 2 pages long and I had to try and fit everything.

Have you ever made a shape recount?

Have a nice day and here is a picture of my shape recount.

The Treasure in the garden

Kia ora bloggers and veiwers

Today we had to write a narrative  about ourselves and our friends found a box and we had to finish the story. Half of the story was writing and it was

You are out in your garden playing with your friends when you notice a small bump in your garden. You and your friends decide to start digging to find out what is below. If you found a treasure chest buried in your garden, what would you most like to discover inside? We were so excited to find out what was in the box, as soon as we got it out we….

My highlight for this  activity was writing and keep you sing our imaginations.

The challenging part was trying to add more and more to make the writing exciting and to add big and interesting words.

Have you ever found a box in you garden  or have written something similar like me?  Tell me if you would love to be in my story and actually go on a adventure on a magical ship.

trip to Orewa Beach

Kia ora bloggers and viewers

Yesterday we went to Orewa beach  and learned surfing. we even did lots of things  and had lots of fun.Today we had to write a recount about our trip so you can know how much fun we had and what we did

My highlight for this activity was  typing on my Chromebook because it is so fast that I can even finish typing in maybe around 20-30 minutes.

The challenging part for this activity was thinking about what we did from the beginning till the end because we did so many activities.

Have you ever been to Orewa beach or have done surfing? Tell me in the comments if you have  or you would want to.

Have a nice day and here is my recount and some pictures from the trip.

Bye!!

On Wednesday 27th of March the senior school at Hay Park went to Orewa beach to learn surfing and to have  a fun time. First we had to come to school early because we had to be prepared and check our bags for hats, lunch, water, jacket and togs plus towel. There was breakfast open for people that didn’t have breakfast but nobody from our class went because everybody already had breakfast. The buses were leaving at 8:50 so at around 8:45 our class splitted into the 2 buses. Me and my friend Zaynab went in room eights bus where we met our friend Blane. The buses were so flashy  because they had curtains, lights, tray tables, arm rest and toilets!  It is so cool that there is a toilet in the bus. To get to Orewa beach we had a 45 minute drive, which was so long but fun.

After a long drive we finally reached to our destination at Orewa. The instructors Toby and Ismara welcomed us  and told us what to beware of like rocks, currents and people. They even told us how to protect yourselves by putting one hand on your head and other on you neck so if you fall than you will not hurt yourself.

After the instructors told us all the information the teachers told the staff about the rotation  and we were doing a beach game with Mrs Patel. We played capture the flag and at first it was so fun but when the  teacher started to take one pipe away I lost and got eliminated. After the game we had options like having a swim, walking down the beach and playing in the sand but most of the people chose to swim and walk along the beach including me.

After beach games our next rotation was surfing! I was so excited. We first got our wet suits and t-shirts but some people didn’t want to wear the wetsuit so they only wore the t-shirts. First before we surfed in the water the instructor explained the parts like the tail, nose, fins and the leash. Then we had a practice on the sand like jumping up and if we fall, how to fall. Then we finally got to surf in the water. It was kind of tricky at first but then I was having so much fun andI even stood up on my surfboard when a wave came and learned how to surf. Time was up sadly and we had to get changed  but I didn’t want to go and have more time but it was the end.

We had to get out of our wet suits and then got changed into our uniforms. Next we had lunch and after lunch we played in the playground. We even played tag and hide-n-seek. It was almost time to go back to school so everybody settled down and got ready but room 6 had to change quickly because they were the last class to go surfing and the buses were already here. Finally when everybody was all sorted Mrs Patel did the lost property because some people accidentally took someone else’s uniform and things. After everything was done and the classes were counted everybody boarded on the bus and  I was so tired that I almost fell asleep. Finally, after a 45 minute drive we reached school in time and the bell just rang .
